The Xbox 360 hard drive is an almost vital accessory for helping you really get the most out of your console. From saving movies to online gaming, the Xbox 360 250GB Hard Drive really expands the gamers experience and pleasure. In fact I save many action games such as Modern Warfare2 to my hard drive because it causes the console to heat up less;therefore giving the system a longer life span. But as wonderful as this 250 GB memory unit is, there are 3 VERY IMPORTANT details you must consider before you buy it!This can save money and time, and most importantly;protect your important games and game profiles.
- Transfer Cable - The data transfer cable that comes with the larger hard drives should always be used! Do Not simply "recover" the account via Xbox live unless absolutely neccessary! It may take longer initially, but your chances of losing your valuable gamesaves and more are greatly lessened. Trust me on this... don't lose valuable savepoints when you are playing in veteran/hardcore mode; it will not be worth the crying. Also note: you CANNOT use this cable to transfer your data to a smaller hard drive. Only from a smaller hard drive to a larger one.
- Price - At roughly $130. (at this time), certainly not the most economical deal on hard drives. But sadly, I paid about the same price for my old 60GB drive nearly 2 years ago. This is BY FAR the most "economical" Xbox 360 memory unit released to date.
- Buying Used Memory Units: Don't do it! - This author highly recommends AGAINST buying used memory devices for gaming consoles; it is way too easy to get ripped off for several reasons. Often times people will sell their Xbox 360 hard drive or memory unit because they have been banned from logging onto Xbox Live for cheating, modding, or simply being abusive to other players. Regardless of the reason, if you end up with this "banned" memory unit; you can forget about ever using it for online play, PERIOD! Microsoft's policy forbids them from ever allowing a banned memory unit access to their servers forever. Also if you purchase a unit online which is faulty, you will probably have trouble getting your money back. I have actually had Paypal refuse to refund my money from a seller because even though the item was stolen, I still received it!Dont take that chance with your money.
